Title: Orthodontic Assistant/Front Office Assistant

Pay: $23-28 per hour

We’re a modern, state-of-the-art orthodontic practice in Torrance looking for a full-time or part-time orthodontic dental assistant who can cover both the front and back offices. We’re an enthusiastic, fun, family-like team and we appreciate clear and respectful verbal and written communication among team members and with patients.

Since this position is for combined front and back assisting, ideally the perfect assistant will have experience with scheduling and confirming appointments, communicating with team members and patients by text/phone/email, verifying insurance eligibility, chairside orthodontic assistance including bonding/banding/debond, instrument sterilization, X-rays, digital intraoral scan, etc. We’re open to training a driven inexperienced individual who is motivated and dedicated to becoming an orthodontic dental assistant and to providing a high level of customer care. Hourly pay based on experience.

Position description

  • Chairside orthodontic assistance for braces and Invisalign.
  • Records taking, including orthodontic photos, X-rays and digital intraoral scan.
  • Explaining to patients: treatment plan, treatment progression, brushing and retainer instructions, scheduling, insurance benefits, etc.
  • Patient’s insurance eligibility verification
  • Answer phones and schedule appointment. This includes taking New Patient Intake Calls that require a high level of customer service.
  • Open to taking photos and videos with the team and help create weekly contents for social media.
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the office.
  • Approximately 24-40 hours/week
  • Regular office hours: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm (lunch break: 1pm-2pm) and Saturdays 9am-1pm.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of dental and orthodontic terminology required.
  • DA, RDA or OA preferred, not required.
  • Over 6 months of orthodontic chairside assisting experience required.
  • Experience with appliance bonding, banding and debond required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal skills required to be able to provide patient instructions and education, and to maintain clear and respectful communication among team members.
  • Excellent written communication skills required to courteously and effectively communicate with team members and patients by text and emails.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform sterilization functions required.
  • Basic computer skills required, including proficiency drafting emails.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service required.
