We are looking for a OB/GYN Physician for Ft. Leonard Wood in MO. This assignment will begin 10/1/13 for FIVE year! s, through 9/30/18. Hours are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 AM â€" 4:30 PM, with on-call, no scheduled weekend, no holidays required. For call, the provider shall be available telephonically within 10 minutes of the page being sent and shall be prepared to provide consultation and/or assistance within 30 minutes of the page being sent or as soon as needed. Call will be rotational for approximately one-third of the time including weeknights (4:30 PM â€" 7:30 AM), holidays (end of shift thru next day) and weekends (Fri. 4:30 PM thru Mon. 7:30 AM). The physician may or may not be required to work a normal eight hour day after being on call the previous night. Rounds will be required while on-call. The OB/GYN shall provide initial emergency medical care required to any civilian, military or military beneficiary requiring it in life-threatening situations. The HCP shall provide care for a panel of patients up to 1500 and have inpatient admitting responsibiliti! es and perform inpatient rounds. The HCP shall perform chart r! eviews and attend meetings as part of the normal workday. The HCP shall treat patients in all stages of diseases as selected by the Chief of OB/GYN. The provider shall interview patients, diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments and medicine, perform surgery and refer patients to military or civilian hospitals for complex medical problems. Shall provide comprehensive and continuing health and medical services, e.g. diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance, rehabilitation. Shall take patient history and perform medical surveillance physicals. Will request lab tests, x-rays, consultations and procedures as appropriate. Must be capable of performing the following procedures, at a minimum:
Normal antepartum and postpartum care
Normal labor and delivery
Maternal-fetal monitoring
Episiotomy and repair of second degree laceration
Local infiltration anesthesia
Pudendal block anesthesia
Use of oxytocic drugs after completion of third stage
Cervical! dilation and curettage (including vacuum)
Biopsy of cervix, endometrium, or vulva
Abdominal salpingo-oopherectomy, ovarian cystectomy
Abdominal tubal interruption
Incidental appendectomy
Amniocentesis
Repair of third and fourth degree lacerations
Drainage/marsupialization of bartholin cyst
Fetal scalp sampling
Neonatal resuscitation
Elective low forceps
Manual removal of placenta and postpartum uterine exploration
Laparoscopy, diagnostic and operative
Abdominal hysterectomy
Repair of cystocele and rectocele
Repair of injury to bladder
Vaginal hysterectomy
Cervical conization
Cervical cerclage
All vaginal deliveries
All caeserean deliveries
Surgical repair of injury to bowel, ureter, and pelvic vessels
Colposcopy
Obstetric ultrasound imaging
Cervical cryosurgery
Repair wound dehiscence
Pap smear
Sexual assault finding exam
The physician must have current board cer! tification by the American Board of OB/GYN or American Osteopathic Boar! d of OB/GYN. The provider may be a new graduate of an OB/GYN residency program as long as s/he is board certified BE providers are not acceptable. The provider shall have graduated from an accredited educational college or university. Have at least 24 months experience (3600 hours) experience as a practicing hands-on OB/GYN within the last 36 months. Residency and fellowship time counts as practicing experience. Internship does not count as practicing time. Provider shall be a M.D. or D.O. and capable of treating all ages of patients. Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or Virgin Islands. Possess current BLS, ACLS and DEA.
