sonographer uses diagnostic ultrasound ! under the supervision of a qualified doctor of medicine or
physician, whose responsibility is the use and interrelation of ultrasound procedures.
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Associates Degree required
ARDMS credentials must be kept current, so as not to expire during employment; Must be personally
responsible to obtain required hours (CEU credits) to maintain registry. Must be a graduate of an AMA
or CAHEA accredited educational program in diagnostic medical sonography or have obtained
equivalent experience; A graduate of a two year AMA allied health program (i.e., Registered Nurse
Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy); Must have experience in abdominal, gynecology and
obstetric, colorflow and small parts.
