We are looking to hire a Payroll Clerk in Pico Rivera, CA. This is a contract to hire opportunity to join our accounting department.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, administers and performs essential duties as they related to the Payroll Department involved in the processing of time and earnings records of all employees, resulting in the distribution of payroll checks. Will assist, as needed, in the day-to-day administration of policies and programs covering several, or all, of the following: compensation and benefits, training, employee and, safety, and personnel research. All duties are of a highly responsible and confidential nature.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comprehend Federal / Multi-State
  • IRS Publication 15 o Reciprocity for BM Locations
  • Mandated local tax for BM Locations
  • Validate new hire entries such as tax withholding, ss# and direct deposit.
  • Performs all regular duties associated with the preparation, balancing, generation and distribution of the company payroll.
  • On a weekly basis prepares, audit and balances payroll for normal transmission such as manual entries, commit timesheet data, wage assignments and investigates questionable entries as necessary.
  • Comprehension of commission monthly pay run, audit and validation.
  • Comprehension of payroll output; i.e. payroll registers, pay statements, wage and tax.
  • Process non-routine unscheduled payroll transactions, final pay, adjustments, voids, issuing stop-payment orders, issuing replacement checks and audits period end outstanding checks and adjustment voids.
  • Comprehend CBA, currently 7 (collective bargaining agreement) and interpretation
  • Prepare special CBA advances and pay out calculation on a weekly basis.
  • Comprehend use of FLSA regular rate re-numeration.
  • Comprehend use of bonus taxation P
  • On an annual basis, validates payroll for new rates of pay associated with general salary adjustments and calculations of retroactive payments for employees as appropriate.
  • Provide support/training to all BM locations on payroll or interpretation of best practice
  • Time clock set up and trouble shooting
  • Troubleshoot payroll configurations as needed in Dayforce
  • Assists Benefits Manager with Benefits adjustments.
  • Comprehend ERISA regulation regarding 401k limits 401k adjustment impact.
  • Comprehend Cafe125 Benefit deductions impacting pay check.
  • Records employee information such as tax data, address changes and direct deposits as needed.
  • Run general reports with the ability to filter data.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet company goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Payroll experience must include Ceridian Dayforce, WFM and employee self service portal experience.

Strong Computer skills (Payroll software, Excel, and word processing) and knowledge of office procedures. Strong technical support skills related to time and attendance. Equipment Operation: Personal computer, copy machine, fax machine telephone (voice mail), printer, typewriter, calculator.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Arts or Science (4 year degree) from an accredited college or university and five to seven years of related payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
