Description: St. Louis College of Pharmacy is at the momment seeking for PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Ambulatory Care right now, this position will be placed in Missouri. For complete informations about this position opportunity kindly see the descriptions. St. Louis College of Pharmacy sponsors two ambulatory care specialty residency programs which emphasize the development of clinical sk! ills in the ambulatory care environment and teaching skills in both the didactic and experiential environments. Each program has a unique primary clinical practice site with opportunities for rotations within other healthcare systems.
St. Mary’s Health Center serves as the primary practice site for one program and is a 525-bed, community teaching hospital, which offers pharmacy services in the internal medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, and high-risk obstetrics clinics. The ambulatory care clinics primarily provide service to underserved patients from Missouri and Illinois.
The residency provides a unique opportunity to be an active team member in high-risk obstetrics and internal medicine clinics. The resident serves as an integral team member in the clinics, working closely with clinical pharmacists, medical residents, attending physicians, and nursing staff. Required clinical rotations include internal medicine and women’s health, including high-risk obstetrics! , obstetrics, and gynecology. The resident also has opportunit! ies for elective experiences at other pharmacist-managed ambulatory clinics in the St. Louis area.
St. Louis County Department of Health serves as the primary practice setting for the second program and provides comprehensive medical care to uninsured and underinsured residents of St. Louis County. Residents gain experience in direct patient care at the North Central Community Health Center and the South County Health Center. Clinical pharmacy services include pharmacist-managed appointment-based and telemedicine clinics for diabetes, resistant hypertension, cardiovascular risk reduction, smoking cessation, anticoagulation, asthma and polypharmacy as well as participation on multi-disciplinary teams to provide individualized patient care and community health education.
The residency includes longitudinal experiences in all ambulatory care services and in practice management in order to provide a strong foundation in this area of practice. A longitudinal experience i! n academia allows the resident opportunities to build on experience with didactic and experiential teaching throughout the year. The opportunity to select two elective rotations and participate in project development allows flexibility to meet individual interests and needs. The program director meets regularly with the resident to provide feedback and guidance.
Residents in both programs will participate in journal club, case presentations, and a resident seminar, as well as provide educational in-services to pharmacists, medical residents, and staff physicians. A research or pharmacy practice project is completed during the residency year. The resident will receive a faculty appointment at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and complete an ACPE-accredited teaching certificate program. Teaching opportunities include classroom presentations, small group case discussions, and clerkship precepting.
