The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner â€" Pediatrics is part of the person centered integrated care team and performs the duties required to assess and treat common child and adolescent problem! s in a primary care setting.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide treatment for the appropriate number of patients as outlined by Crider Health Center
- Provide treatment in accordance with Missouri State Statutes for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners/Family Nurse Practitioners and per the Collaborative Agreement with the Physician
- Provide quality care as demonstrated by chart reviews
- Suture laceration, remove foreign bodies from the ear and nose, provide splinting, and complete incision and drainage
- Provide life support and emergency evaluation/care in response to life threatening situations in the absence of the physician
- Respond to calls from patients and hospital staff during nights, weekends and holidays based on the call schedule in effect
- Compile complete and interval health histories on clients of their specialty
- Perform complete physical assessment as well as physicals directed towards ! episodic or interval concerns for the pediatric population
- Select, perform and/or interpret the appropriate routine laboratory and diagnostic tests specific for that specialty.
- Utilize the nursing process as a framework for assessment and management as appropriate to a Nurse Practitioner
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health to include diet, health maintenance, therapy, normal growth and development and family planning
- Maintain appropriate records, utilize the tracking system in follow up on patients.
- Make appropriate referrals
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary health team who perform under the philosophy of a Patient Centered Medical Home
- Attend staff/agency meetings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Masters Degree, Bachelors Degree and graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse in the State! of Missouri
- Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
- Three years experience in related position
- Knowledge to treat adult patients, children and adolescents and routine OB/GYN patients
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner receives supervision from the Pediatrician.
