As a valued caregiver:
The Ultrasound\Vascular Lab Tech (Reg. RDMS\RVT) provides the technical knowledge and expertise to safely and accurately perform ultrasound scans, vascular lab procedures, and other related procedures as requested. Is responsible for taking ultrasound calls as necessary. Schedules specific times for exams, considering priority. Helps prepare quality assurance reports for Vascular Lab to determine accuracy. Give technical explanation for fallouts and confer with Lead Tech and the Medical Director of the Vascular Lab for actions and fallouts. This position requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of body mechanics.
Skills of the Ultrasound/Vascular Lab Tech include: Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures by visualization of anatomy and recording images. Perform procedure in accordance with Vascular Lab policy and procedure manual. Record technical comments for Radiologist. Perform limited preventive maintainence on equipment. Ensure on-call coverage after regular working hours. Perform quality assessment procedures for accuracy of results
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an approved Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) program for Abdomen, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound. Documentation of exams performed or completion of other criteria that fills requirements of eligibility for the ARDMS registries.
LICENSURE:
BLS certification required. RDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, RVT or CCI are required as follows:
- completion of two registries (RVT & RDMS Abdomen) within twenty-four (24) months of employment
- completion of the third registry (RDMS OB/Gyn) within thirty-six (36) months of employment.
1 year of experience preferred.
